A domain transfer the process of changing Registrars. Website Forge is a Registrar and can provide the same service as your current Registrar. It is often beneficial to have all your services located with one company like ours to maximize our ability to help you with your web services.

You can choose to do a Domain Transfer when you change to a new web site provider or have purchased your domain name before choosing your web site service provider.

Important Facts:

•	You MUST know the username or login of your current Registrar (place you purchased your domain)

•	You MUST have your e-mail address listed as a primary contact person on the domain

•	It may take several days to complete a domain transfer

•	You SHOULD re-create your mailboxes immediately after your transfer to reduce the chance of losing existing e-mail. If any.

•	You are required to acknowledge an e-mail by clicking a link to finalize a transfer. If you don't do this -- the transfer may fail.

Here are the steps to transfer your domain name

1. Locate your current Registrar. Click here to learn more

2. Verify your current working e-mail address is listed on the contact records. IF NOT, then contact your Registrar and ask them to update your records. You may contact our support if you have questions or need advice.

3. Once you verify your email address, contact our support and ask them to "Initiate a transfer" of your domain.

4. Our support team will attempt a transfer. It takes several days to receive confirmation of support. You should receive an e-mail asking you to approve this transfer. Watch for this e-mail message. You are required to click a link to finalize the transfer. If you don't click the link, your transfer will fail.

If you do not hear from your Registrar or our support team in a few days, contact support and we will check the status of your transfer and re-submit the transfer request if necessary.

If you are not the rightful owner of a domain name, you will be unable to transfer the domain.

If you have e-mail addresses currently attached to the domain you are about to transfer. Please contact support to avoid losing e-mail during the transfer.
