What is an e-mail account?

 

An e-mail account is a storage space on an email server.  Mail delivery is based on your Domain Name and related configurations.  Users can access these messages through an e-mail client like Outlook or Eudora.  Many people also use web based clients like Yahoo and Hotmail.

 

What is a POP or POP3 server?

 

This is a server that provides incoming e-mail messages.

 

What is an SMTP server?

 

This is a server that provides outgoing e-mail messages.

 

What is an ISP or Internet Service Provider?

 

ISP means Internet Service Provider.  An ISP provides a network connection from your home or office to the World Wide Web.  Once you are connected to the web via an ISP you are able to browse web sites and send and receive e-mail.

 

Website Forge is not an ISP -- Website Forge is a Website Host.  We provide a home for your own domain name, web site, and e-mail.  We also provide support for your web site related services.  If your ISP has issues you may need to contact them.
