E-mail Clients/Programs

Top  Previous  Next

An e-mail client program is a program you use to retrieve, delete, and send e-mail with.  Examples of e-mail clients are Outlook, Outlook Express,  and Eudora.  Outlook Express comes with most default Windows installations and therefore is the most common program to use.

Many people use some sort of web based email client like  Hotmail, SBC yahoo, or something else.  Web-mail is meant to allow you access to your mailbox while you are away from your desk.

Web-mail is not a true e-mail client program because you never actually download a copy of your e-mail to your computer.  Though web-based email is handy, it is absolutely critical you use some sort of e-mail client program to download your messages.  This way if something should happen to your e-mail server or host -- you still have a copy of all your e-mail messages.
